I cut my first whole chicken! π
I got a whole chicken from the grocery store because I saw a Pro Home Cooks video on YouTube. I cut it into 8 pieces: 2 half breasts, 2 thighs, 2 legs and 2 wings. I feel like I left a little to much breast behind, but I got most of it off. Then I made my first stock with the carcass in the slow cooker on low for 10 hours. I didn't have all the spices like in the YT video, so I used what I had for the stock - carrots, onion, coriander seed, and bay leaves.
I made some chicken noodle soup for lunch today. I used the legs and wings for meat. The broth was really good, but I might have salted it a little too much because it started to taste salty like canned soup.
That sounds wonderful, I'm so happy that you got to have fun with a whole chicken. You're doing really well, and I really think you're well on your way to becoming a great, healthy cook. β€οΈ Keep it up, and keep updating us on your progress π₯°
