I'm Maniacworld the Backpacker

Maniacworld February 4th

Hi, I'm Maniac! About 5 to 6 years ago, I started on a backpacking journey across America. It has not been a straightforward journey at all. I've biked through the Appalachian Trail and have been all Through colorado and oregon and the US SouthEast. I'm currently trying to get all my licenses and passport! I wanted to share my pack list.

I use a 5.11 bag. 55liter. Loaded it weighs about 40- 50 pounds.

I carry a tarp, hatchet, folding saw, crowbar, trowel, several multitools, a self care kit, rope, first aid kit, baby wipes, a propane tank and stove attachment, lighter, multiple sharp knives and a file/sharpener

Personal effects: just keep it to a phone, journal, and an old nintendo switch. Battery packs. Bulletproof armor and a pair of cheap nvgs. Sometimes I carry a takedown recurve with me. I carry chess pieces, tarot cards, magic decks, and dnd dice just in case

Clothes: keep it simple with rain jacket and a good winter waterproof coat. A lot of basketball shirts and a few tshirts, camouflage and khaki for over pants, and an intermediate leg layer. For sleeping bag, I use a military sleeping back and a weatherproof outer liner. There is times I opt for a hammock.

Most of my overnight camps are in abandoned houses.  For the most part I work to get money. I like shooting bows as a hobby. I love to cook healthy and I plan on getting a few licenses in the state im in for hunting/fishing this year.

I'm hoping you guys liked this list, if you've backpacked, let me know. If you have healthy cheap recipes you know, let me know. If you're a gym rats and know some secret strategies for increasing gains, let me know lol ✌️

Maniac- first of all, heaps credit for doing what you do!  I've backpacked through Asia and Hawaii and can say that its an experience to do it anywhere in the world!!

The items you have such as tarp, hatchet, a self care kit (what does that consist of), rope, first aid kit, baby wipes, a propane tank and stove attachment, lighter, multiple sharp knives and a file/sharpener are all needed.....If I can add,  those camping packets you add heat warmers too (you can buy them in bulk or packets), those are quite delicious and easy to carry.

Personal items- I also bring magic cards, tarot cards, a gameboy, battery pack and phone. I bring a compass and headlamp w/extra batteries so I don't have to carry a flashlight around.  You don't need much for clothes, except a warm jacket, some shirts, swim gear, shoes (durable),  hammocks are nice but bug repellent in certain areas, tarp that you can make into a tent for rain is good.  Sleeping bags can be heavy.. and have to roll and carry, but those silver camping blankets keep you just as warm and they can fit into a pocket.

For food- I used to bring instant coffee packs, trail mix, one pot meals (but u need a small pot) and toss in water, noodles, and some meat to boil, or ramen.  Fishing is great, you need the right bait as well as light weighted fishing rod, nothing fancy, and a weapon to help slice fish to de-bone.  I have a lot of experience in the food area for camping.  There are many many under $1 packets of rice, noodles that you can cook in boiling water if needed......

Love your post!

Meeting others who walk this life gives me so much kinship! Tysm for the food tips, thats an area I love expanding on, because theres nothing like making your own meals in the wild. I'm going to have to romp around Asia too, there must be so many languages going on there! I'd love to bump into you on the road.
