Dinner With Our Alumni: KateDoskocilova

Hello everyone! I hope you had a great last weekend of summer ❤️. This week we've had a very cheerful listener add on to our Dinner With Our Alumni series! For those joining this series, our dinners are a collection of small interviews with Group Leadership & Dynamics Development (GLDD). These help us reflect upon the program and help our current trainees as well as spread awareness about the program! If you like them, do tell us and we'll reach out!

Please welcome @KateDoskocilova! Kate plays a big role in our community; for starters she is the mentor leader of the LGBTQ sub-community, so we are extremely thankful for having her here today! In addition to being a leader, Kate is a model for her own online platform built to raise awareness on mental health and lgbtq topics! Kate also loves to write. What made you join the GLDD program?

I thought it was interesting and fun!

I see that one of the GLDD requirements was to host discussions. What did you like about that the most?

the fact that i was already hosting discussions, so it wasn’t as stressful for me to find a way to host discussions.

How was your experience doing the program?

It was nice! It wasn't very hard and I managed to get the hang of it pretty quickly.

Which is your favourite activity in the program?

I think my favorite activity was to host discussions!

What’s the one thing you learned that you will always remember?

I actually learnt too many things to count, to be able to write them down!

What advice would you give to a new GLDD trainee?

that before they start any activity, to first make sure they understand what the requirements are so they don’t get anxious.

How can mentors offer better support for the program?

I think that mentors offer great support already!

If you could change one thing about the program, what would it be?

Nothing!
