This world we live in is very strange. Despite being comprised of 8.2 billion people, almost overflowing with each other, advancements in technology and other innovations have ultimately made it feel like we have regressed in certain ways. While many would consider this hyperbolic, life doesn't feel quite as different as it was, say, 1000 years ago. Perhaps transparent barbarity was more widely accepted, certainly, but there are new and more covert ways humans find ways to harm each other that can be considered equivalently barbarous. It seems like many people believe that we follow a linear path into advancement, but while our lives have become simplified this does not disqualify the fact that in certain ways it has likewise deteriorated. It's very isolating, nowadays, and we're so quick to point out the flaws of others and ruin their lives, even though many of us have skeletons in our own closet amidst this persecution. I guess life just feels very asinine in many ways, and although humans are considered for their compassion and empathy, instead of these traits do I see so much hypocrisy and ruthlessness among us.
