I want to be happy for once.

I honestly just dont understand how people are happy. Even when in the moment I am 'happy' I still am never completely there. It seems like most of the time I am just angry and isolated. After being with family 100% of the time my social battery is even worse. Upon having to get a degree and do the work for it, as my damily already feels like worse. If you are one of those people who truly feel happy, your lucky. I'd do anything to just feel that certain way a few minutes more. Not even as a child I could enjoy feeling completely happy. My parents were to busy making my life miserable in the moment. Whatever it is what it is, good day or night.

@he11okitty If you are looking for just a few minutes of happiness that is the exact right goal. Why? Because a happy day is made of minutes of happiness strung together. When I was very depressed I found treatment that ended my sadness like magic. That lasted only a few moments, but it was then I realized that the treatment worked. It was then that I started saying that if you can find happiness in a few seconds you can somehow figure out how to extend that to a day.

The Buddha kind of reframed this question about how to be happy. He asked is there a way not to suffer. Western Mindfulness meditation came out of the Buddhist thought and most long term meditators I’ve met haves said they don’t consider their Buddhist practice a religion. The Dali Lama said study mindfulness not to become a better Buddhist but to be a better whatever you are. Sharon Salzburg is a meditation teacher who also teaches meta meditation (loving kindness meditation). It’s great for developing self compassion and perhaps melting some anger.
