Long-term, equally ambitious and driven STEM buddy: let's struggle less together

IcedPhoenix January 9th, 2017

Hej!

I want a biomedical engineering degree and to be CEO of my own company, in order to have a business that actually changes the lives of chronically sick people for the best. Just two tiny problems: I have a chronic illness (chronic migraines and daily headaches, not really easy to concentrate with those) and I have studied languages and humanities so far. I used to be top of the class, effortlessly. I'm talented for languages, for maths... not so much. Now I have worked and studied, mostly the latter, and as a result, I have fallen behind. This is extremely painful for me. And my pride does not allow me to be "slow" or to need time to process information. It makes me feel stupid or somewhat less than the person I'd like to be. Anyway, I realize that all things come with practice and that I need to push through the discomfort. Plus I am on this antiepileptic drug called topamax (lots of cognitive side effects, but no migraines). That could be actually making me slower.

But, back to my proposal. Are you ambitious? Do you have a big, incredible goal that makes you all tingly inside? Do you, despite being committed to it, sometimes struggle with frustration and daily challenges and the fact of being well... the only one who believes in this giant dream of yours? I say all great things love company! So, if you'd like to team up and grind through the not-very-exciting-but-vital daily routine that will get us to our goals, just write me and let's be accountable together!

If we are many, we could start a club or something :)

*bump* I'm not sure I'm the right fit, but I hope you find someone who is! :)
