Listens to: over 18
What'sbothering me is the only listeners on only listen to those who ate 18+
I'm 16, so this isn't helpful to me at all, especially when I need advice from a more experienced person who has more experience than I have and who is willing to share their goodknowledge.
I didn't really know this was an issue when I signed up. I didn't think it'd be so specific to age and choose whom I may or may not have listen to me determined on my age. I feel it's slightly unfair?I'd rather just sign out and have a conversation with someone who doesn't judge me on my age.
I am not a listener, so I can only guess, but from my perspective part of it at least is that many of the issues (though certainly not all) teenagers face end up boiling to: when you are older and/or out on your own this will be better/easier. Does posting on the forums help at least?
This is done to help prevent some predatory behaviour towards those who are underage, from what I understand. The adults who listen to those under 18 have to take some extra steps.

I understand your frustration with wanting to talk to an older or more experienced listener and not being able to. The restrictions were set up for the safety of our teen members. That said, there are several adult listeners who have been designated as able to chat with teens, as well, after going through a verification process. Have you tried browsing through listeners and looking for any of those? Hopefully they can help!

I know sometimes as a teen its nice to talk to someone older that already went through some of the things you went through and can give you better guidance.
The reason for the division of age in 7 cups is because of the minor laws, since 7 Cups headquaters is in the USA they have to follow USA laws and provide extra protection to minors. This is why minors are not allowed to talk to over 18 people. But listeners sometimes choose to go through a process that allows them to listen to teens and to adults.
