Riddles!
This topic is about short riddles, because not everyone likes to do the larger logical puzzles. If you do like those, then click here.
If you've guessed the riddle, you can immediately post another one yourself. Let's keep it going.
I will start with this riddle:
What is easy to get into, but hard to get out of?
A man who couldn't speak went into a store to buy a toothbrush. He pretended to brush his teeth with his finger to tell the cashier what he wanted. The cashier understood and the man went home with the toothbrush. Then, a blind man came into the store wanting to buy sunglasses. How could he tell the cashier he wanted sunglasses?
Poke your fingers in my eyes and I will open wide my jaws. Linen cloth, quills, or paper, my greedy lust devours them all.
What am I?
I am never quite what I appear to be. Straight-forward I seem, but it's only skin deep, for mystery most often lies beneath my simple speech. Sharpen your wits, open your eyes, look beyond my exteriors, read me backwards, forwards, upside down. Think critically and answer the question.
What am I?
@DarkWolf
A riddle.
What thing is legal to steal?
@DarkWolf because I'm a romance fiction writer my mind immediately went to 'hearts' but I'm almost certain it's not the answer
I give milk and have horn, but I am not a cow. Who am I?
My neighbor makes mistakes and I get rid of them. Who/what am I?
@DarkWolf the backspace on a keyboard?
@Winterlieshere
I think there's a better answer. Especially because I talk about one neighbour, not multiple. Very good guess though, very plausible.
What is taller than a human but smaller than a chicken?
@Winterlieshere
A shadow, i guess
@ravenousPhoenix no, sorry. Especially since a shadow is not actually smaller than a chicken. But thank you for thinking about it!
@Winterlieshere
I don't know if this is right.. but a star?
@DarkWolf good guess! But not exactly the one.
Here's a hint: what do you do when it's cold?
@Winterlieshere
A blanket ?
@ravenousPhoenix when a blanket is folded it might be smaller than a chicken but not taller than a human. And when the blanket is not folded, it might be taller than a human but not smaller than a chicken. So no, sorry
@Winterlieshere
I said it in a context when a blanket is spread and not, but its wrong anyway. I guess i should give up now. :p
@ravenousPhoenix here's another hint: Charlie Chaplin.
I'm just getting more confused as the hints get layered on. End this nightmare!!!!! :/
I'm sorry!
The first hint was about cold weather and I thought it would make you think of what you wear in order to not get cold.
The second hint was about Charlie Chaplin and I thought it would make you look of his signature look; cane and a hat.
So, putting those two together and noticing the one similarity, you get the answer... a hat.
When put on, a hat is taller than you. But if you put a chicken and a hat next to each other, the hat will most probably be smaller than the chicken.
@Winterlieshere
Don't be sorry, it was a good original riddle and I'm very glad you are contributing to this topic Sometimes a riddle is a little bit more difficult than you expect when you post it, that happened to me a lot too. Riddles are always easy when you know the answer.
(p.s. I posted 'star' because I found this riddle when searching for riddles it was the answer to: What is taller than a house but smaller than a mouse?)
@DarkWolf thanks for that! I really felt bad about it haha. And yeah, a star is actually also right, if you don't compare its actual size, but rather the size you see, to a chicken.
Hand she has, but she does not hold. Teeth she has, but she does not bite. She has feet, but they are cold. She has eyes too, but without sight. Who is she?
@DarkWolf A chick in a REALLY bad situation! LMAO. No clue yet on the answer, and I'm likely too sleepy for it to cross my brain before I hopefully drift into sleepyland. But I am charmed by this riddle.
