Update on Family Conflict
So I am having dinner with my dad and his cousins again a week after we had my grandma's funeral. However, my mom and brother want me to do something secret. You see my dad is going to divorce my mom and he is no longer on speaking terms with her and my brother. So my brother is slipping a note to one of his cousins to tell her what is going on and I have to be the one to deliver it. I am having so much anxiety because I am worried she is going to tell the rest of the family and my dad will unalive me for just being the messenger. I don't think he wants the rest of the family to know about the divorce until it is finalized. But I can't be choosing sides when it comes to this.

perhaps you can look at it a different way....
example friends and family often hear a one sided story of a situation... IF your dad wants it secret until it over ... why? what is he hiding?
I do not like the idea of being in the middle of any family issue and can relate ... but I also your mom and brother may have a real concern.... do you know what they want to relate to cousin? can you plan any other way.
Just to give you an update, the plan sort of backfired. My dad found out about the desserts because he looked at them and said they looked terrible. At least he didn't see the note my brother gave. But I am not sure if my dad's cousin looked at it because my dad told them to throw it out since it didn't look good. However, she gave me her contact info and I passed it on to my mom and brother. Honestly I knew this plan wasn't a good idea and it would've been better if I just only gave her the note so it would've been more discreet. My brother and mom wanted to tell her why they haven't been at the last two dinners due to dad cutting them off from the rest of the family in light of the divorce. But it hasn't been finalized yet.

hey, it seems like you were in a complicated situation, I hope things went well with you that day. I'm also sorry for your parent's divorce, I hope it doesn't affect you and your brother badly.
