I don't know what to do

Pidgeymon April 5th, 2021

I feel completely out of control. Everything around me is changing. I'm a part of a system and I went dormant for years. I am currently nonverbal, and I don't even know why. I can't feel my body. Everything feels numb. I don't know what's happening. My mouth won't work, I don't know what's happening. I need help. -Caroline

@Pidgeymon Maybe see a Medical Doctor, to see if there is something going on,medically.

I hope this helps.

Hey Caroline!

I'm really sorry, it looks like you're going through a very tough time. It sounds like a very serious illness and so it's best to get it checked by the doctor. Unfortunately, most of the 7 cups listeners here aren't medically sound, and so we won't be able to help you out on this one.

But here's a big warm hug from me and everyone else in the community, because you're an amazing person.

Hope everything goes well for you.

Take care!

@Pidgeymon Hey Hi Caroline :) It's okay, try to take a couple of deep breaths. If you've been dormant for a while it could be that you are overwhelmed, all of your senses are currently over stimulated. Sometimes the numbness is there to protect you from being overwhelmed, especially if everything is changing right now. It is frightening though.

You say your non-verbal and your mouth doesn't move. It could be selective mutism or it could be that you have been told to be silent. It's okay, remind yourself that you're safe right now. Are you co-con with any of the other's in your system? They may know about what's going on right now. If you have a therapist, it's a good idea to write them an email to let them know what's going on as well. Or if your system has a journal, you could write in there, this works really well too if you're not co-con with any of the others. To ground yourself without overwhelming all your senses, you could try something cold, either hold it or drink something cold. Sometimes something as simple as taking your shoes and socks off and placing your bare feet on the ground can help. I have other methods I can offer later if you'd like.
