I'm currently working on a school project concerning photoshop and the unrealistic beauty ideals that retouched photos create, aswell as the effect is has on people. Therefore I wanted to hear some opinions on the subject. So please let loose and tell me your thoughts! :)

Well, that's an issue that is worth being discussed but talking about photo editing in general, there is nothing bad about it. And I think that everyone should know some photo editing basics like [cropping pictures] for example. But when it comes to beauty photos, no doubts, too much retouching is always used.

Hi @PenguinFriend8880,

I love your thread.

When I think of airbrushed pics, I instantly think about Instagram, sometimes about beauty product campaigns on websites and bilboards.

I usually don't follow very popular accounts that influence today's popculture, but sometimes I feel a bit down when I see perfect pictures of influencers/celebs because they show they have it all and they can't/don't want to relate to anyone 'average'.

However, I have seen more and more body-positivity accounts and vlogers who post unedited pictures (either their own or the submissions) or accounts where there are comparisons of 'before/after procedures' or 'photoshop vs. real life' pics. Both types of content have opened my eyes a little more and I feel less down whenever I see a perfect ig post.
