Mental Health and Eating Disorders, day 3!

Emily619 August 19th, 2017

Hey guys! I'm cohosting with Victoria and this'll be day 3 of the mental health and eating disorders discussion laugh

For today's question, can you tell us about some typical eating disorders pattern?

@Emily619

Well, guess I'll start this one off!

There are many different types of ED's, but the main ones are anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, and OSFED (other specified feeding/eating disorder, formerly known as EDNOS). Other disorders include ARFID (avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder), and pica (eating non-food items).

I hesitate to describe them in further detail just to avoid triggering language!

For me i see different foods as either good or bad which is an unhealthy way of looking at food. I also eat the same foods in the same order every time. I never just eat without thinking about it which is the eventual goal of recovery.

@Sammie1997

that's definitely a common way of eating for someome with an eating disorder, really most (not all, though) ED's are centered around that. Recovery is always, always possible though heart You can do it!
