Hi All!

I wonder if anybody has experience with going to Overeaters Anonymous? My therapist wants me to start. I found a group that meets Sunday mornings near a church I like, so I thought I would go to OA, and then over to Church to meditate.

If you went to OA, did you find it helpful? How long did you go? Are you still attending? Do any of the principles interefere at all in your recovery? Do you use a sponsor? What kind of behavioral boundaries around food have you set? Does going to OA bring you any peace? Are the people who go there people who you might choose as friends? Thanks for any help...

@KaroCA

Thanks for the fantastic reply! I think the hardest part for me will be the most important part, which is to reach out to the community. I went Sunday, and it feels like home and I will continue to go. They all left their phone numbers with me and that it's ok to text, so I am now making a commitment to do so.

Well, I went to Overeaters Anonymous last weekend and have been in text-touch with 2 of the members there. I think I like the program and can get behind "God as I understand God" as a HP. Today I did an online EDAnonymous meeting and that was good too. I think the Sunday OA and the Friday EDA meeting will be the support I need to get ahead of this thing.
