Want a fun, laid back way to pick up a few things about sign language and Deaf culture?

Read That Deaf Guy's comic!

Mostly humour but some of this is a day to day problem for us.

Farheen August 22nd, 2014

Hello all! I recently took a small break, but I'm back. I am currently an interpreting student and am always here to answer questions. PM me or reply here :)

Thanks for creating, Samantha.

Hey guys, since I work with people living with disabilities on a regular basis in my real job, I got my certification as an interpreter. If anyone has questions about ASL or deaf culture please send me a message. I thoroughly enjoy working with the deaf community. If you are interested in getting involved with the deaf community in your area you can google deaf events and your city. My city even has a deaf club with a bar, loud music where deaf people can feel the vibrations, bingo, pool tables, and other activities.

Don't forget Makatonwhich is frequently used to aid communication with people who are non-verbal, people with learning disabilities and also deaf babies :)

I also work with persons with disabilities for a real life job and have spent the past three years living with a roommate whom is deaf. I am becoming a certified interpreter, so if in a pinch I feel as if I can answer any questions you have! :)

I am HOH and just finished an ASL class. I'm learning that the Deaf Community stays within itself, and most HOH people don't want to learn sign. It's almost a surprise that Deaf and HOH tend to be lumped together. Nonetheless, I plan to navigate through these barriers and become a person who can float in between the cultures.
