Hey everyone, I have been struggling with feeling really insecure and not good about myself. Any advice on how to boost self confidence? I’m trying not to be down on myself but I also don’t want to deny how I’m feeling.

Hi there! I know I've been there before. I'm sorry you're feeling this way. What I find to be helpful is to think of/ talk to yourself as if you were a friend or a child. If your friend made a mistake, you wouldn't belittle them for it. You'd acknowledge that mistakes happen and that it's okay, it's a part of being a human being. You'd tell them next time they'll do better and that you believe that they can do it. Also if it comes to body insecurities or just kind of general insecurity about yourself, I find it's really hard to think highly of myself when you're feeling down. So I start with just general acceptance. For example, I feel insecure about my acne scars. It feels disingenuous to just say "I love my acne scars, they make me beautiful." You know? So what I do is something like this "Okay so I have acne scars and it's okay. I can be beautiful and have imperfections at the same time. I don't have to have perfect skin to think highly of myself." Little changes like that help me from spiraling into negative thoughts about myself. It's okay to feel sad and have things about yourself that you'd like to change. But it helps seeing that we all feel that way and you deserve to be supported by yourself. If that makes sense. Sorry for the long rant! I hope this helps you out a little bit. :)
