Ketamine treatment experiences

I'm considering Ketamine IV treatment for my depression and persistent suicidal thoughts. My psychiatrist is really wanting me to do this. It's a lot of money and time commitment for someone to drive me, 4 hours each way for a 40min treatment, at least 6x over 2 or 3 weeks. But the alternative is miserable and could be fatal.

So, I'm looking for other medication resistant people who have tried this. I've tried dozens of antidepressants over 20 years, and the last 5 have become increasingly darker.

From a safety point of view I believe it's been used in higher doses for many years as a recreational drug, and as an anaesthetic.

My understanding, which is not great tbh, is that it's effect in depression is both rapid and sustained. I believe that if you don't see an effect in the first couple of doses, there's no point continuing, and I suspect that if you do feel better then it will represent excellent value for money.
