Getting through antidepressant side effects
Im going through the whole list of side effects possible, rn. Does anyone have any tips on getting through them (esp the increased feelings of depression/anxiety)? Is it normal for it to get worse before it gets better? I dont want to move on from the meds too quickly, but Im desperate to find the right fit.
Thanks
I would talk to your psychiatrist or whoever prescribed the meds as soon as you can. Even if you can't get an appointment right now, call and ask to leave a message for the doctor. It is definitely true that the first month or so can be rough as you adapt to the meds, and medication can cause increased anxiety/depression either because the drug is not right for you or as part of the transition. You may need to go slower as you up your dose or try a different medicine. It's important that your doctor knows, though, especially if you are feeling suicidal at all.
I feel you though, trying to figure out your meds can really suck. I struggled to get on antidepressants because of the side effects, but when I found a good medication and a psychiatrist who would taper me up slowly it worked out really well and I hope you can find one too.
