Empty
@PoppyRobin Emptiness can definitely be a part of depression. Some people feel numb, empty, and apathetic when they are depressed. Other people experience more saddness, hopelessness, and worthlessness. Many people also lose interest in what they used to enjoy. Everyone experiences mental illnesses differently.
@hopefulPower94 is see. Is that why I lose my appetite when I'm depressed?
@PoppyRobin Apetite change is one of the criteria for Major Depressive Disorder and Persistent Depressive Disorder (according to the DSM 5). So it definitely could be caused by your depression. Are you in treatment?
@hopefulPower94 nope!
@PoppyRobin How are you handling your depression? Would you like any resources?
P.S. Feel free to message me if you want to talk :-)
@hopefulPower94 aww, thanks for that! I just find depression something that comes and goes with time. So for now, I'll try to get my mind off things. xx thanks again for being sweet! xx
@PoppyRobin Of course! I love to help as I can. Enjoy your day :-)
@hopefulPower94 This is interesting, thanks for sharing. I always thought depression was mostly sadness rather than feelings of numbness.
As hopefulPower94 said, a feeling of emptiness can be a part of depression. Even more interesting though is the fact that emptiness is sometimes an indication that you're pushing some trauma or emotion away. Emptiness can be an emotional escape as "...feeling nothing is so much easier than being angry or sad all day."
