You Can Beat Depression
You can, always remember that. Depression can be hard sometimes to beat but it's not impossible. So the next time you think that you can't hold on any longer, then you're wrong. You can do it if you want it to. There is nothing impossible. Have faith!

Love the positivity :) However, I'd like to challenge this thought! I definitely agree it's possible to cope with depression, and to even enjoy a full life despite (or in spite of) depression. But I don't think it's something that only a mindset or faith can overcome, since the mind and body can be so complex! We're probably on the same page of wanting to encourage, but I just wanted to say something because it might be easy to misinterpret and hear that we need to change our minds about having depression!
@Jadie
I agree. Anyone who hasn't had severe clinical depression won't understand that there is a lot more to it than making thought decisions. Brain chemistry is affected to some degree by habitual thoughts but that same chemistry also affects your ability to have those thoughts and to be able to enjoy your most enjoyed activities...If there isn't enough serotonin remaining active in the brain your enjoyment just stops and just thinking positive isn't going to simply turn the enjoyment back on. Recovery differs vastly depending on the person and numerous factors from daily habits to type of meds to therapy to a person's support network being accessible and trusted etc. etc. etc.
People that don't know it already may find this helpful to know: SSRIs do not put more serotonin in the brain than was there before you take them. They affect how long the brain holds it's existing chemistry in the brain's "active" zone for that chemical to be made use of. This is why most good doctors will advise also making sure enough vitamin D3 and other stress affecting vitamins are a part of your daily meals because that helps the body produce enough of the chemistry the brain needs to thrive. I'm not a doctor so can't tell anyone what's best for them personally but can say both have been helping me with severe clinical depression.
Doing mindfulness exercises and accessing the self-help material on 7cups has helped with recovery in conjuction with medication, nutrients and all the other self-care I've done, such as limiting my exposure to toxic/abusive people.
@hopefulFireworks63, great reminder for everyone in the recovery! Also, just letting you know that I moved your thread from the daily check-ins category to the general threads within our sub-community.
Best wishes!
