Why is every decision I make wrong? :(

happycloud7o9 February 27th, 2017

My mom and brother do nothing but critisize and make fun of every decision I make. It really gets me down. I thought I was making a good decision because when I did my tax return I selected for some of the money to be put toward savings bonds.. that way I wouldn't be able to blow it on stupid things. My family just saw I got them and made fun of me right away for doing that. Nothing I do is ever right with them.

Plenty of smart people buy Savings Bonds. Not stupid at all

Personally I'd tell them you didn't ask for their opinion, and you'd appreciate them keeping the criticism to themselves. That might be too harsh to say to Mom, but you could certainly say that to your brother

@ChromeLotus Thank you for the nice comment! :) I don't know why I let what they say bother me so much

@happycloud7o9 no offense and not to sound harsh, but you are not out to please your mother or brother. You have to do what is best for YOU. I personally think that doing that so as to not blow your money was increibly responsible. You did what you felt was best. Be proud of that.

@happycloud7o9

I used to live with someone like this and I'm still recovering from the aftermath of it. Self-esteem isn't easy to maintain around people that are impossible to please. If it's your money that isn't owed to others it should be your say how it gets spent even if nobody else understands your reasons. *offers hugs*

@happycloud7o9 It's one of those things where we can't help but want our family's approval, but decisions should be made by what you think is best. Plus, for my penny's worth, I think saving bonds are a brilliant decision!
