Tips for suffering with depression

What tips can you give to someone who is suffering with depression? Some people are apathetic, and some are suffering without a clue of what they can do to help themselves. What are tips you have heard or have worked for you?

It all depends on what's causing the Depression becuase, more often than not, the illness is just a symptom, not the root problem itself. I say this because, neurologically speaking, our brains cannot differentiate between physical harm and emotional harm. As far as it's concerned they're both one and the same.

This explains why those who suffer from Depression/Anxiety oftentimes have a history of physical, emotional and/or sexual abuse. Their brains react to such traumatic events the same way the body does when, say, hit by a speeding truck.

So, just like we would be rushed to the hospital if, God forbid, we were ever hit by a truck, expert care is necessary for the victims of abuse to recover from the deep emotional trauma they've suffered. When those wounds are healed the Depression/Anxiety resolves, makes sense?

Hi Curvedmanager,

Depression is a monster that try to eat us up and we need to work with it as a reality. I normally make arrangement for a walk three times a week to be able to persist. I do count my breath at the time of stress. It helps a lot as well as falling into sleep. :)
