Group Therapy

So I'm considering some kind of therapy for my depression; I'm too poor to go see a shrink, so I'm thinking about going to a group counseling session at my church, but the idea of discussing my problem with so many other people frightens me, what if I end up knowing someone in that group? I know everyone there is sworn to secrecy, but still..something about having someone who knows me know I'm going through depression scares me. Worse yet, they may try to relate to me! >.< Sorry, not trying to be mean I just much prefer to talk to perfect strangers and everybody work to get to know each other from the ground up. Anyone else feel like this? anyone else been to rl group therapy? how did it go?

I can relate to being nervous about people finding out you have an issue. I haven't been to group therapy, but I go to a pretty well known place to talk to therapists. I get nervous about people seeing me there. But if you do see people in your group therapy, I'm sure they'll be accepting. They're seeking help like you.
