Inconsistantly Recovering

Hello! Like, I assume, a lot of other people here, I still have some mood swings and experience episodes of depression. I am more taken to mood swings that most people with depression, and I have a "Mood Disorder - Not Otherwise Specified". For the most part, with medication, I have been doing better over the last few years, but mood swings still happen, just not as severely as before. I think a lot of people have probably had similar experiences.

I know exactly what you mean I get like that all the time but I'm supposed to be recovering and it's like very little is changing and it can be really frustrating

Yeah. For me especially, because I have mood swings (which my medication does help with), it can be hard to tell if I am really recovering. I know my depression is not as deep as it used to be, but I always have in the back of my mind that it will come back, to one degree or another.

It makes it hard to feel confident in the recovery for me. Although I can tell I am better than I used to be, I can't really tell how much.

I hear you! I've struggled with depression for 15 years. When I finally got help & started medication, I had 2 precious years with very few symptoms. I'm back in another rut now for the past 6 months, and its so discouraging. I just want to feel normal!
