How to handle a subtweet?

for those who don't know here is the definition of a subtweet: (on the social media) a post that refers to a particular user without directly mentioning them, typically as a form of furtive mockery or criticism.

So admittedly I've done something I am not proud of. It was a low moment in my life. During this moment, I made this person (let's say X) upset. I was not friends with X, but we do have some mutual friends.

I recently discovered that she has been "subtweeting" about me. just saying things about me without mentioning me by name.

I don't know how to feel about this... on one hand I believe I deserve it since it's all true. On the other hand, we are both upcoming professionals (graduate students) and I felt that it was inappropriate behavior.

If someone could tell me how I should handle this situation I would greatly appreciate it! I'm leaning towards just ignoring it and my bad feelings will go away eventually?

@purplemango62 You’re right to ignore it, but if you’re not convinced, imagine and write down whatever alternatives you might have. Then for each of those imagine the worst possible result. If the exercise isn’t worth your time, then how much time is thinking about it at all.

Ignoring it sounds best for right now. You might go out of your way to be friendly when you see her. Kindness can allow things to soften and rebuild. @purplemango62
