How do you stay motivated to feel better?

I've dealt with chronic depression my whole life, with different periods of ups and downs. Right now I'm in a difficult period, although not as bad as my worst times when I was suicidal. I don't really feel suicidal, but I can feel the change in my outlook, where I'm starting to wonder why I'm even bothering with all my goals.

I suppose I should work on how I'm feeling, but it's difficult to determine why I should. I don't really care about myself or my future. I'm only working on all these life goals for the sake of my family and friends, who would like to see me be successful.

Advice would help, thanks.

It is hard when it is chronic. Mine is chronic too. During those bad moments what helps me is to let people know that I am struggling. Then they usually grant me a bit more of a break.

I do find that keeping on my usual activity plan eventually gets me to feeling better. That is where I am aiming rather than thinking about who I might be displeasing.

But also have people on 7 Cups to turn to. You can feel free to add to this thread anytime and I will be sure to answer within 24-48 hours. @CherryBlossoms246
