7cups anxiety?

@sociableSea7298 It’s not you, it’s them. I have experienced this same bs. My suspicion is that there are a bunch of sleeze ball dushbag dudes who are looking for something other than listening. They probably answer multiple chats and try to multitask. If you’re not what they are looking for, they just leave you hanging. I believe some of them travel in “packs” and share things about what people they are talking to either to make fun of them or because they are excited that they found some red meat. Why do I believe this? Because the ones that do start a conversation are super interested in “the details” and if you don’t provide any gossip worthy details, they are not the least bit interested in how something made you feel. Sometimes I get a really good listener, but over time the quality of 7 Cups listeners has gone into the sewer. 7 Cups, as an organization probably has a lot of challenges in how they might or might not be able to monitor conversations or “police” it’s listeners. Since listeners are volunteers and their “training” is minimal at best, you kind of get what you get. And as the popularity of the site grew, it probably attracted a bunch of creeps who are interested in scamming, or playing out sick fantasies. Or, the people listening are riding the bus and lose cell connection, or probably a lot of other much more generous explanations. There is a part of the site where you can browse for listeners and get an idea of how others rated them, so you might want to try that instead of just the random one on one chat. 7 Cups can be a great resource, but you have to be careful, just like you do in a big city. Some subway stops should be avoided even if it means you have to ride a few stops out of your way.

@sociableSea7298 - I am sorry to hear that you are having some bad luck finding a listener that you click with, try not to blame yourself.

Some listeners may not reply because it may be a subject that they don't feel comfortable talking about for whatever reason, or they could be multitasking which is something that I personally don't do when I am chatting to a member. Either way, you may have some better luck if you go through the 'browse listeners' section.

I know that I find listeners harder to connect with. Different people process things differently and that isn't my speed. I like to be able to send short messages out once a day on a forum post and then wait for a few responses from different people.

It takes much longer to get responses, but the responses are more careful and thoughtful. @sociableSea7298
