Activities for certain age groups?

KBeauty12 May 2nd, 2022

Probably wondering about the title, so hear this, apparently doing anything relating to plants, whether it is gardening or collecting plants is considered an 'old people thing', the audacity, lol. My question to you is 'Do you do activities that somewhat seem to others as not age-appropriate for you? I would like to hear your point of view...

@KBeauty12 Well apparently if doing things with plants is considered old lol. But I also like to color and watch cartoons. I just turned 26. Idk maybe that is too old for somethings or not old enough for others. I think we should just do what makes us happy. If something brings us peace or contentment then there shouldn't be any problem with doing it.

@KBeauty12 I think the plants and old people thing comes down to living situation a fair bit. For example, there are probably more people in their 20s living in a basement suite than in their 50s. I think with many of the COVID restrictions some of the lifestyle factors that changed lead to a lot of younger people getting involved with plants too.

This is such a great thought-provoking question! I know that there are various activities that are believed to be "old people things," such as knitting and gardening. But I don't believe there should be an age requirement for certain activities to be done on a routine, or even an occasional, basis. For example, I really love gardening (since the topic of plants was mentioned), and it's so therapeutic and very fun! I also enjoy playing old-fashion board games, like chess and checkers, which anyone can learn to play and even participate in competitions. All in all, there shouldn't be the stigma that certain activities belong to certain age groups, since we shouldn't feel hesitant to do an activity that allow us to experience pleasure and tranquility. 😊 ❤️

as a highschooler, I really love genetic research. I spend a lot of time working at a lab at a local university… I get a lot of strange reactions when I tell people

People before say to me I am to old to play with toys and like to swing and like stuffed animals a lot because I am 13 but my parents say is no age if something makes you happy and I think they are right because everyone needs things make them happy.

@theboymoana No worries, I'm over 40 and if there were a swing on a playground available here, I'd sneak to it during the night - I've done so before ;-) Especially the 'nest swings' are great for stargazing in the dark. Only issue is when it squeaks ;-)
