What's up Wednesday? #2
Hello everyone, today is another What's up Wednesday for you all ~
Sometimes, things we do for fun, for pleasure can actually be more beneficial to our career than we think. For example, I went to hang out with my friend for lunch recently in one of his favorite restaurants. The staff was really nice, so we were chatting all together. Then suddenly, they told me that the restaurant is in need of a content writer and I could connect with the manager to discuss job opportunities. Wowzer!!
QUESTION: Have something like this ever happened to you? A fun, simple thing you do turns into bigger opportunities, marking a turn in your own life or career?
I am talking to @Womerz this time, who landed a job with a Content Development Marketing certificate (CDM) from 7 cups. I would like to share our discussion together with you all. Womerz is finishing their English degree and has been applying for graduate roles. They think that their CDM experience and voluntary time on 7cups have given them a good edge over others. They think they would not have got the job without their 7cup's journey.
Here are 3 tips @Womerz shared with us on how to make the best out of 7cups for our experience here:
Tip number one would be to use your mentor/the community. One of the most helpful parts was that it was made clear to me from day one that I could reach out to them anytime and they always responded quickly with helpful answers for me. The team is there for a reason, utilise them!
Tip number two would be to do thorough research before deciding on your topic, my topic was a gap in the community and I had not seen much of an open discussion regarding birth control and its effects. From extensively researching this, I was able to make a good choice on what to write. It also fuelled my passion for writing about it, as I knew I was filling a needed gap.
Tip number three - Talk to those around you. I found when writing my article, it was good to get a personal angle on the subject matter. I reached out to friends and family to talk about their own experiences with birth control. It really helped me form a personal story.

That was an amazing story ! I found the tips you gave in the post to be very useful for me.
As for me, I too had many wonderful opportunities, where I unexpectedly took one of them, and It showed me another possibility of what I never I would've but actually achieved. When you asked that question, that particular memory came to my mind.
It was about three years ago, I got into a science camp for fun. It was an amazing experience with us doing laboratory experiments and other rounds, which were related to basic science and math. I had an amazing time, talking to the people around there and having an awesome experience. At the end unexpectedly, I won the prize for one of the competitions that was held there. It was both an surprising as well as a joyful moment for me. As I walked upto the podium, the teacher who was at the mic, came forward and offered me to speak a few words at the stage. Shocked beyond words, I took the mike, and I delivered a small talk, and I received a round of applause, from the audience. I never knew I would even stand unafraid in front of a stage, much less receive an applause for it.
That experience gave me confidence for myself to take on new opportunities and use the best with what we have with us (like one of your tips in the post).
