CDM Progress Report
Hi CDM Trainees,
This thread serves as progress reports for CDM Program.
We would love to hear how you are doing!
Each week, we would like you to reply to this thread answering the following three questions:
- Which discussion was the last you completed?
- What are some things you struggled with or didn't quite get right the first time around?
- What went well? Share some tips you find helpful to help others.
If you require support, please let us know and we'll reach out to you.
@ouiCherie
- Which discussion was the last you completed?
I just completed Discussion 4 but I haven't responded to anyones post yet. I plan on doing that today and then submitting my trial form. - What are some things you struggled with or didn't quite get right the first time around?
I think overall I haven't struggled yet. The beginning information seemed pretty straight forward. I did have to dedicated more time to creating a Q&A post because I wasn't sure how to go about it. That is also something I am interested in actually doing, so I might have been second guessing myself too much. - What went well? Share some tips you find helpful to help others.
I thought the graphic went extremely well. Less is more and I think I captured the idea in a noticeable way. Definitely think "Go with your gut and don't overthink it" is a great strategy. If you think your first attempt is terrible AFTER you accomplish it, then go back and fix it.
@SnowTabby
- Awesome job making it to discussion 4, I'm sure you've made it much further since this post ๐ Congrats on making it through the trial period

(I'm an Academy Mentor for the program). - I agree with less is more at times, especially if it's your first time at something like this. Its super helpful to trust your gut with your own creativity ๐

Week 1 report
- Which discussion was the last you completed?
The last one I completed was discussion 8
- What are some things you struggled with or didn't quite get right the first time around?
So far the one thing I struggled with mainly to complete the assignment correctly was discussion 6 where we had to write a paragraph supported by facts it takes me a lot of time and energy to look for the right sources and integrating them so Iโm trying to prepare for when I start the article

Discussions like the create the graphic and choosing the topics of interest have been fun and something to learn more about.
@ouiCherie
1. I completed the 3rd Discussion question.
2. I've been trying since I starting my internship last week to figure out when the chats/meetings are. I've asked two different people and both gave me different answers. I'm an ATL in this internship - this is my 2nd week.
I've seen a couple posts about the group chats and to date, I've caught part of one, but because I wasn't there at the start time, I didn't get credit for (which I understand). Since last week I've put 3 days and times in my planner to attend a meeting and I've shown up and no one was there. The last one was at 11:30 Eastern this morning which I was told was to happen.
What are the actual times that are available to choose from attend for trainings/check-ins? Please tell me what days/times they are offered and time zone. I really want to get all I can from my internship, and I don't want to be not showing for something I should be attending.
3. I'm found the content so far very interesting and I'm already finding that I've learned a couple things things in discussion 2 and 3 that I wasn't aware of and that is exciting. What has been most difficult I addressed in question 2.

Which discussion was the last you completed?
- Discussion 8: Content Categories and Topics of Interest at 7 Cups
-
What are some things you struggled with or didn't quite get right the first time around?
- Some of the coursework tasks were more intimidating than I initially anticipated, but I managed to get through them quite well. I also had a few questions about the programme timeline, but everything got settled after connecting with CDM mentors. ๐

- I'm proud of my work for the discussions. Connecting with Academy mentors is helpful when we need support with the programme.
@SilverSeastar It's really good to see that you pushed through the intimidation and ended up incredibly proud of your work ๐ฅฐ Great job making it to discussion 8, keep up the good work!

Discussion 4 & 5
What are some things you struggled with or didn't quite get right the first time around?
Being that I've not been a strong user of social media besides ***, and that I use as rarely as possible. Lesson 4 was a bit difficult for me to work on, but I was surprised afterwards how it was starting to take effect. Such short bits so easily created. It really started making me think.
Lesson 5 was reading, not yet a project to do for it.

I think that the instructions were clear with the examples were helpful. Looking at other intern examples I found really helpful. It actually made me want to go look at other posts and see how others make posts to get more ideas.
@ouiCherie
- Which discussion was the last you completed?
I just completed discussion 4, Team Lightship: Tweeting Empathy.
- What are some things you struggled with or didn't quite get right the first time around?
The majority of tasks were a little bit easier for me since I am an avid social media user and I have created my own content before. Fun fact: I created my profile picture. I think what was most challenging for me was to try to keep my "tweets" short and sweet. I find myself wanting to write a lot down and maybe it is too overwhelming for future members.

I found that the create your own social media post went well. I believe I used canva for that. I suggest it.
@sellistens I'm glad that the assignments were easy :D Your profile photo is really nice, you're talented. I also struggled with the "short and sweet" challenge when making captions because there's so many words that can be used to explain your own creations! Especially if it's a mental health topic close to you
@SirenOfSerenity Thank you for the compliment and yea I agree its definitely hard to keep it short when it's something you are passionate about.
@ouiCherie
Week 2 Report
@Mari228 Hi M :D Awesome job making it through the discussions, you're almost completed! When I was a trainee, the article topic and first article submission was a challenge for me as well, feel free to reach out to me if you feel you need more guidance with this step
@ouiCherie
- Which discussion was the last you completed?
I'm not sure when the last update I was supposed to do was, but I have gotten to the part of submitting my first Article focus. I've been stuck on what I want it to be so I have not made any progress past that. The information has been extremely useful, though. - What are some things you struggled with or didn't quite get right the first time around?
I think the first few bits of Coursework Part II have gone smoothly. I can't remember struggling much with it all, but I do know it required a bit of effort to get past the article writing. Creating a post with facts and whatnot was fun and difficult. - What went well? Share some tips you find helpful to help others.
I think it's the same as last time. Second guessing myself causes more issues than anything.
Hi @SnowTabby !
โข The first article submission was the toughest for me too in the very beginning and really encourages you to brainstorm. I'm happy to hear that the information has been extremely useful ๐ Also great that Coursework Part II has gone smoothly! I struggle with self doubt at times as well, as time goes by the brainstorming process will help push through the doubt and into your individual creativity ๐
-
Which discussion was the last you completed?
- Discussion 13: Reviewing and Promoting Current Articles. I'm now working on my first article, which is about halfway written already.
-
What are some things you struggled with or didn't quite get right the first time around?
- I need feedback and have a few questions about my first article, but I've connected with a CDM mentor to get a better understanding.
-
What went well? Share some tips you find helpful to help others.
- I'm happy with my progress on my first article so far. The blank page isn't so scary once I got started on researching, outlining, and writing.
- A tip: design templates, like the ones on Canva, are truly helpful for graphic-making! ๐
@ouiCherie
I am checking in, but my time this last week was chaotic, so I was not able to work on my discussions.
I did, however, make it to the group with @CurrySoup12 who answered all my questions and was able to help me with the timeline and flow of things (Thank you so much!). It was very helpful, and I can't say enough positive things about that experience.
I would recommend that session to any new intern in this program. I don't remember what the group session was called, but it was on Wednesday at 11:30 am Eastern time. It was soooooo helpful, that I can't speak highly enough about it.
I feel like I have a good footing now on how to schedule the rest of my internship and how to be successful as well as graduate with honors.
