Pain of Poverty

TSE2564 May 8th

For context, my wife and I are both teachers at a school district. Except I work as a paraprofessional, which means I do the work of a teacher and get half the salary.

We are going negative in our bank account every single month, and there's no end in sight. We can't afford to move because our rent anywhere would be as much as our mortgage, we are down to one car and pinching every penny, plus we just had to replace our roof which still cost us personally almost $6k. I don't know what to do, but I am just exhausted. I'm tired of being broke. My wife and I have never gone on a vacation, and forget date night, all of which puts a gargantuan amount of stress on our marriage.

How do y'all deal with this? How do you keep from feeling hopeless among the bills stacking higher and higher?

The key IMO is you have to make a change....regardless of the struggle ... money... weight... addiction etc

Most everyone has reasons and basic math does not care about reasons...

perhaps leaving the paraprofessional job and finding one that pays better even in another industry. I think the second job is too exhausting and feels defeated....

When ever I hear or see people whom just do the same thing over and over and expect different results.... it confuses me most KNOW what needs to be done it is about the follow thru.  there is a saying that money management is 20% knowledge and 80 % follow thru....

when you are really down i watch something that shows me people in worst shape and it makes me feel in better shape.

I would say it’s best for you to have another passive income.Try to take part in paid clinical trials as some do pay well.I wasn’t interested in taking part in them because I thought it was too much but you’d be suprised with how time flies and you get your money, that can be put into your saving’s or toward’s your rent.

Hello! I understand you perfectly. I also had a moment when my mortgage was on the rocks. However, I was looking for options for part-time work because I understood all the advantages of living in my own home. Believe me, there is nothing worse than continuing to rent an apartment at 50 years old. I initially took an old house that needed renovation. This significantly reduced the price. I didn't have a lot of money for major repairs. I did everything step by step. For example windows replacement  markham - https://windowtechcanada.ca/markham-windows-and-doors/  My mother says that you need to eat an elephant piece by piece)) By the way, have you considered renting out a room for students or something like that?
