Flight of ideas and substance abuse, bipolar 1

shays4days February 29th

I HATE mania. I feel like I lose the most important parts of myself to it. It comes with really intense and scary flight of ideas, zero impulse control and substance abuse. Can anyone relate? How do you deal with the mania when you feel it coming on?

I can understand your troubles. To begin with I had experience of maniac episodes in the past. Of course, initially, I was not aware of it. But later after noticing symptoms, monitoring them, and recognizing patterns, I had to stick to a few of the routines like tracking my good habits,  developing it avoiding triggers things like that. It was not easy and it takes time that is for sure.

Reaching for support and not isolating myself completely helped me to a certain degree.

My ex boyfriend has bipolar so I know what you are going through of how one moment you don't want to talk to anyone and then all of a. Sudden you want to talk to the person again and come up with crazy ideas. Maybe you can talk to your doctor and maybe the doctor can start prescribing you bipolar medicine I don't really know how to help you when you are feeling mania.
