Newbie bipolar 1

Inman July 17th, 2022

Have honestly never met anyone else with bipolar disorder. Kind of curious how you experience psychosis when it happens. I only hallucinate when up for 3 or 4 days. Have a consistent paranoia when I’m mixed or just manic that everyone knows I’m paranoid. I’m very aware that it’s my mind tricking me. Still hard to deal with. Sorry if it’s a little erratic, I’m mixed with some sleep deprived symptoms going. Just curious if anyone has any thoughts.

Hi, I am Alyssa! I have Bipolar 1- It is great to meet you! Psychosis is a very personal experience everyone is a bit different. Mania typically causes psychosis more than depression does in bipolar people but again it varies. It is great that you are aware of psychosis symptoms, it can get very scary if you are not. For me personally, stress, anxiety, and depressive episodes typically cause my psychosis.

Try your best to get some sleep even if it is hard- melatonin, deep breathing, meditation, and other relaxation techniques help too! If you are manic try to clear your mind by writing down any ideas or things you may be thinking about.

Hope this helps, feel free to reach out to me if you would like to talk further!
