Auditory Hallucinations

thehibernator March 11th, 2021

So I often hallucinate music or the sounds of TV coming from a different room when I'm relaxed and quiet. Last night, I was listening to a storm outside when I suddenly realized that I was also listening to sinister whisperings. Like a different language - made me think of dark wizards. It scared me, until I realized it was a hallucination, and then it faded when I realized that. Anybody else get auditory hallucinations with no other symptom of psychosis?

I do. Maybe not the same way as you do, but I hear steps like someone coming to my room, his voice telling me horrible things and some other things that I can't list in a forum. I know it is all because of my PTSD, and it usually comes with a flashback, but auditory hallucinations are scary. However, it gets a little more easy to deal with when you're conscious that it is an hallucination. As you said, once you realize that, they tend to fade away pretty soon.

I'm sorry you go through that! It must be difficult to cope even knowing it's "not real."

@thehibernator

Sometimes it feels too real and it's hard to understand what is happening and why. Can't tell the difference between reality and hallucination.

ways I've found to cope with it: patting my dogs, playing an "emergency" playlist I made in youtube, going to support room here in 7 cups, standing with my bare feet on the cold floor. Sometimes I SH but it's less frequent every time.

Yes i do for 8 years now lots of talking sometimes whispering really low and it seems so close like someone is right next to me it feels like people are all around talking like they can hear every single thought and know what ill say before i say it. Than sometimes its quiet not so much talking i even feel relaxed.

YES!!!!! I seriously thought I was the only one who would experince this. Its like the tv is set on low, so its like you cant hear specifics but the sound is there. sometimes I will hear people talking in the other room, even when I am home alone.

I am glad to hear I'm not the only person with this annoyance. I hear doorbells all the time. Sounds like the real thing. At one time I thought it was pranks lol 😆 But I just ignore them now
