Hi everyone,

I was diagnosed with Bipolar disorder about a year ago. I recently had a manic episode and now have crashed and am struggling with depression. My guess is my psychiatrist might want to adjust my meds but I won’t know for a few days yet. Within this last year, I’ve had small stretches of stability but nothing long term. Any advice for things I can do, on my own, to take care of my mental health and avoid swings of mania or depression. I’m definitely feeling like a lonely fish out of water as I try to learn to live with this…

I'm no expert on psychology, but my take on this is to trust your psychiatrist. I'm not saying that all his decisions are correct. But he is professional and he lives off it. So he must be trustworthy. What we can improve is to take the initiative to communicate with him and let him know you better. So that he can provide you with better treatment. Hope my suggestion is helpful to you.
