What helps you with noise sensitivity?

I've been really struggling with sensory issues around sound. Noises just seem so overwhelming, especially if someone is talking to me on the phone or when someone is eating around me. Can anyone relate, or does anyone know if there is anything to help - maybe subtle earplugs? Or just anything that works for you?

Thank you!

@Cassiopeia25

Hi there!

My name is FrenchMarbles, a 7Cups listener. It's really nice to meet you.

Are you a fan of music? When you're feeling the sensitivity build-up, is it better when you listen to familiar music?

I noticed this article - this might prove helpful -

Loops/Vibes. Still working on finding something. This (noise sensitivity) is one of the things I hate abt autism the most!

I have noise cancelling headphones

They have three settings: noise cancelling (strong), ambient sound (medium) and nothing (weak).

I often play music and mostly use neither noise cancelling nor ambient sound control, since the song and the natural noise barrier of the will block out the most.

They're really comfortable and adjustable, when I'm not listening to music I wear them around my neck, so on top of that they're fashionable.

I can't really help withthe phone problem excrpt for getting a better call quality, but the headphones are useful for surrounding noises. I always wear them in the cafeteria when I have to eat.

Hope that helped! 🐚✨️

Hey, I use flare calmer earbuds! they allow you to still hear, but take the sharpness away (:

Seeing as I'm late replying to this, have you found anything that works for you?
