Online artists shouldn't really be so greedy...

The artists online that I commission for pictures I like featuring me and Pokemon interacting together... They always charge so much in the costs, like $100 or $200 and beyond. Why is it that they do this for? I know they have their own problems and wants for things but quite honestly, so much price for a simple picture concept just isn't right to me, or my mum. It should really be either $20-$40 or totally free...but no, the world has changed for the worst and most complicated nowadays, it seems. -_-' That's why me and my mum are feeling annoyed at the moment now, because we just paid an artist called Jessica Jones (from ***) for $100 BUT, that artist suddenly said, "I need another $10 to cover the fees", which in truth she didn't tell us that earlier on. That has to be the sign of greediness rather than true reasonability. Just why? >:/

Not having the full price up front isn't cool, but it does happen.  Hard to say if it is greed or something else.

If the artist is trying to make a living off their art, $100 is cheap.  If I charged per hour for my art it would be less than a nickel.  If I charged minimum wage...  Thousands of dollars.  With inflation on the rise, everyone has to have a side hustle.  I doubt she is being greedy.  She is probably just trying to get by.

Art shouldn't be cheap.  It's not essential to life.
