Work stress makes other things worse.
I get stressed and irritable at work having to deal with the stuff i do, which is understandable working in retail, but i have too much time to think at work. Since im already in a crummy mood my mind often ends up wandering to things that tick me off, and it's unhealthy b\c my mind tends to blow things out of proportion. There's this one issue i want to get over but i never will when my mind is making it worse. In fact, it would have almost no effect on me if i didn't dwell on it.
@Reeva527 Hey I feel you, since I am quite the overthinker myself and my thoughts can spiral things out of proportion as well. And I am in no way completely in control of my thoughts now, but it does help to meditate. Of course what works for me might not work for you, but meditation teaches me to watch my thoughts and not follow them and it's a practice, not something you master in a day but I beleive it's so so important to do, not just for us but for everyone. In this society, we spend a lot of time in our heads. We barely notice our surroundings, the taste of food, the music around, as we constantly think about the past, future, or anything. Meditation is simply taking time to slow down and sit there with nothing. Just watching your thoughts and it's hard to do as our mind races, but be patient and come back to your breath. I would recommend guided meditations, and with time, you will see improvement.
