@Thewittle Just because she is in a bad mental place and cannot be positive, that does not mean that you should allow this to affect you as well. You have to try to find a healthy silver lining, and she has to do the same thing, for her sake. Talking about negativity all the time is just not healthy for anyone. And you should never, ever have to put yourself in this predicament for anyone. It is understandable that you find yourself feeling awkward when there's silence, and I know that feeling all too well myself. But if she's only going to be a downer 24/7, maybe it's for the better if you try to limit the amount of time you talk with that person. Now don't get me wrong, I really hope that one day soon she's going to start feeling a little better. I'm not saying she's a bad person for being depressed. I'm just saying that, we all have our struggles. And it's good to train yourself to not be severely affected by other people's struggles. Which does NOT mean that you shouldn't care, but it just means that, you have to learn to protect yourself from the negativity. I hope this made some sense.
