How to help with spiraling?
I tend to spiral out of control when i find some flaw in myself, then i just hate myself profusely and dont know how to stop. Any suggestions?

Hey Adrienne! You arent alone. Anxiety can ebb between background noise and totally debilitating.. and when it starts to overwhelm us, its hard to get our reins back on it. One thing my therapist told me was that- we have to keep ourselves grounded before our anxiety becomes hard to manage. Being mindful of our emotions at all times, even when things are good, is helpful! Then, when we notice were starting to feel more anxious, we can try different coping techniques (like ones we use for grounding) and are likely to have more success.
Before the next spiral, try making observations of what is happening around you and within you before they come on. Does it happen around certain people? Around too many people? Is it at work, home? Do they happen on days where you have a lot of responsibilities, or feel like youre letting others down?
Once you have an awareness for what your heavy anxiety triggers are, you put this insight into your first aid kit, so to speak. Another first aid kit must have would be to build your emotional support network! These 7Cups Listeners/friends/family can be informed about what anxiety feels like for you, and any needs: like, maybe that you dont need bright side approaches or advice, but just comfort. Someone to be patient with you, without judgement. Or however is best to communicate with you while your anxiety is at a high.
That last part^ can be so helpful when anxiety comes on suddenly, and strongly. Having a space to vent and unwind your thoughts can help neutralize your mind for a bit. Taking a walk helps many, taking a nap, creating art.
