That sounds like a garden variety anxiety attack. It doesn't mean it's any less painful, but it does mean that it's pretty common. You might have been worried about not performing well in English, you might have been worried that your peers would say things...
Try to take some comfort in that performance anxiety is fairly common. That means that some people in the room have felt the same thing you did as well. Try to identify what was bothering you if you can. What were you thinking when you started crying? If it's public speaking, then try practicing in front of a mirror. You can get past performance anxiety.

Hey, I'm sorry that it happened to you. I agree with Darkseed, you might having an anxiety attack at that time and yes, you're not alone in this. Please communicate your situations with the teacher and your close friends if this happens again in the future, because sharing anxious feelings to those who care and get as much supports and affirmations as you can will help a great deal to minimize your anxiety and get you more comfortable.
