Hey guys, Melanie here I never posted one of these before in my many years here I hope I did it right. Well I had a apartment inspection today I left and my boyfriend stayed and took care of it. My building landlords said that they were coming to "Look/fix the faucets" nothing was wrong with them. They I was told walked around and judged my apartment I understand that they have to do this kind of thing, all went well they just said "you have to tell us if you need anything repaired". It just made me uncomfortable it made me fear I was going to be evicted or asked to leave, even though they did not say that. I am told that were fine. Does anyone else that rents a apartment that goes through this/went through this feel odd or uncomfortable as well? What are your thoughts/feelings on this/going through this. This has happened to me in the past and with past places I lived/with past landlords sorry this was so long thanks for reading, feel free to share.Take care- MelanieDaniels63

@MelanieDaniels63

I used to feel uncomfortable when I rented and this occurred too. It feels weird to have people come in to my living space on their terms, instead of inviting someone.

I never felt like I was going to be evicted or anything like that. Smoke dectectors were always checked by them at the same time. I think often times insurance requires it. It also keeps the building safer for others, as things like drug labs or hording can be fire hazards and if there is something like a big pest infestation it can be treated hopefully before it spreads.

@wonderfulMagic99 Thanks for your reply, I got a email saying that stuff needed to be fixed. This I already knew but then the email I got a email yesterday said the house was not clean (which it was) and she is coming back in 30 days. She said if it is not clean then I will have a health person come then Idk. I have a illness and I can't clean look for a new apartment etc... I may need to have a colostomy bag surgery. I am scared to be asked to leave/evicted when I behave and pay rent on time I have lived in my home 11+ years. I am scared that it will not be cleaned to her liking I don't know what to do dorry this was long and thanks for the reply. - MelanieDaniels63

@MelanieDaniels63 If you asked for a list of things they had a problem with, do you think they would be able to provide that to you?

Hiring someone to clean may be cheaper than you think, especially if it's just a one time thing. If you go that route I would suggest having it completed a few days early in case the cleaners reschedule or something like that.

I hope you're able to stay where you are!

@wonderfulMagic99 Thanks, yea looking into it I plan to do what I need to keep the apartment. Thinking of getting a lawyer it just feels very raw and out of the blue thanks for being helpful.

@MelanieDaniels63 well now that I see the situation as much as described. It is quite uncomfortable having someone check the living space you've dwelled in as a comfort zone and your personal space. Cleaning it before the appointed date where that lady will come is a great option as mentioned by @wonderfulMagic99. I hope you best of luck and that in the end you'll win and remain in that apartment.
