School and Anxiety

freefromworries September 17th, 2016

For some people, school can bring on a bunch of different types of anxiety. Let's take some time to think of the things that cause this anxiety in school (not matter how small you think it is) and how you combat it!

I'll start. I get anxiety going into the cafeteria because there are way too many people in my school, so instead I usually eat in the library or in an almost-empty hallway. Another case, I get anxious in certain classes when the teachers seem tough, and in those situations, I focus on my breathing and remind myself it will be okay.

I get anxious to go to the cafeteria, the only place i feel safe and comfortable is the library because that's where no one will be there!

And also when i'm asked to answer for anything in the class, during the presentation i will have 0 control of my anxiety, but nowadays i'm trying to overcome it, still i have the problem to initiate the conversation as well as the presentation, but once i do i feel more comfortable now. :)

Got to improve a lot! :)

I think there is a lot of pressure on what's the "norm" when it comes to being social. Being in a crowded cafeteria isn't for everyone. I think it's important to reflect on what it is you want. If your goal is to work toward hanging in there and building those relationships that's awesome! If you're comfortable with the library and that's how you get the much needed break lunch allows that's also awesome! It's all about what is the most peaceful and relaxing to you. Sounds like both of you have made some mindful ways to remind yourself you're safe. You should share those if you're comfortable because maybe that will open up new ideas to others :)
