My phobias
I have the following (i do not know the actual terms...)
serious fear of big storms (for example, the one that is currently tearing across the US... and has spawned half the nationwide average for November tornadoes.... it's spawned 36 out of 56....)
Fear of being stabbed or cut by a blade
Fear of being shot (IE with a rifle, or a pistol)
Fear of losing a loved one to suicide (kinda... induced by the fact that one has been... really close to suicide a LOT lately... and has... attempted so far like 6 times.) (i believe this one has no term... but... i get really, really paranoid about this one.)
Fear of being rumored about
Fear of public speaking/ speaking amongst a large crowd
Fear of "Death Dreams" (no term... but... applies to hyperrealistic nightmares i'll have that don't exaggerate or anything. They are as realistic as life itself... and pain in them is real...)
I have more but... i don't know how to explain them... if anybody can help me with any of these... well... please don't hesitate to.
Whoa! That's quite a list. How do you cope with them? Does giving each fear a name make it feel more manageable?
Whatever it is, I hope you overcome them.
P.S: I see some words which could trigger peeps who self-harm. Forum mentors, edit maybe?
My bad... I just... i wanted to be specific because umm... well.. when I'm really general about it... nobody really understands... but still, sorry about that.
@Koriin
I understand perfectly. Accuracy while recounting is a good skill. Don't worry - we all make mistakes! Maybe next time, wrap the text within a trigger warning? Thanks :)
I have a lot of strange phobias but I wouldn't exactly say I am afraid of some of them; so much as they just creep me out to an extreme level.
I have social anxiety so clearly public speaking is a no go for me. But the list gets strange from there.
The things that make me highly uncomfortable are:
mouth sounds such as smacking, repetitive noises such as scratching, dripping, ticking clocks. large ships boats or airplanes (not being in them, but standing near them or seeing photos of them), sunken ships, random items that are excessively large like bridges and statues, sudden loud noises, old objects such as antiques and old photographs.
Basically anything that overwhelms me. I have absolutely no idea why these things bother me or if there is an exact name for some of them.
@wanderlustLo I so understand the noise thing and people laugh at me about it and it's so not funny
Mannequins and wax figures, big time. I always see them moving from the corner of my eye. Just got over my fear of eyes though (touching them)
