Anxiety, Anxiety, Anxiety
Hi all,
I joined 7cups today as a listener. I have worked with people since I was a teenager and it is something I am passionate about. Nice to meet you all!
However, one thing I am not passionate about is anxiety. I cant remember when I develped anxiety if I am completly honest, all i know is that i cant remember my life without it. It has become apart of my shadow and everyday routine.
I get the physcial symptoms of anxiety before my mind kicks in and tells me thats what it is- odd? Does this happen to others? I know that subconsciously something has triggered it, but I dont know what. For me, there are specific things that can irritate my anxiety. What are yours?
Alongside this, I have also recently been diagnosed with bi-polar, which I always kind of knew I had anyway being a mental health nurse myself.
Anyway, I am really pleased I get to be apart of something wonderful- if you do want to chat, please feel free to message me!

Hey there Harriet, I'd like to give you a nice warm welcome to 7cups, thank you for joining the community!
I'm sorry to hear about your anxiety and Bi-polar =(. Similarly to you, when I experience anxiety I tend to feel it physically first, then afterwards, I am enveloped by the not so lovely prickly blanket that is anxiety =P.
Finding and Understanding the triggers of anxiety can be tough though, and most people's subconsiouses, especially mine anyway can either be confusing to understand or completely non-understandable. I don't know whether you may have tried this, but whenever I am anxious, I try to pick apart what is causing my anxiety, If I can identify a controlable route of the anxiety, I make adjustments to reduce said anxiety, If I can't identify a route, I practice meditation and utilise hyponosis videos on youtube to calm me down.
My top triggers anyway tend to be academic work, and social worries =I. But nevermind that.
If you can't recognise what the trigger of you anxiety is, that's okay =), as long as you can find a way to return to a state of wellbeing following your anxiety episode, locating the trigger may not be necessary at all.
Thank you again for joining the listening and member community!
Feel free to message me anytime too!
Take care of your self,
Oscar

Welcome to 7cups, I hope you are enjoying the listener experience!!
alot of people care about anxiety :)
I completely understand in the sense that your symptoms of anxiety are displayed physiologically before mentally. I have a similar experience to that as when I first feel my anxiety “come out of hiding” it’s displayed similarly to having too much caffeine. Sometimes my “mental anxiety” is triggered by me worrying about my physical symptoms. You are not alone.
