Going to the dentist
I am going to have to go to the dentist for the first time as an adult and I am... scared.
I'm scared because I've never had a cavity before, I'm scared because I've never had a filling, I'm scared that they'll find more cavities whenever I go it, I'm scared it will be dragged out into multiple visits, I'm scared because it's the first time my parents won't be accompanying me, I'm scared because I've never had laughing gas and I don't want to have any, but I'm also scared of I'm offered some not taking it will be a mistake. I'm scared that I will be judged for bringing anxiety support I'm scared they won't let me bring ear plugs. I'm scared they won't take my insurance. I'm scared if I share this with the people around me they will judge. I'm scared to even tell anyone that I need to see a dentist
Despite all that. All the anxiety and intrusive thoughts that I have, I am truly and honestly going to try to take care of myself. Because I owe it to myself and everyone who cares about me to atleast try
If anyone can offer support I'd appreciate it but I just had to get those thoughts out

Break it down one step at a time....
at the making of an appointment they can check to be sure they take your insurance. if you have put it off ....
many people have you are not alone... the offices i have gone to ask if you are nervous or are anxious so they can help you feel more comfortable and i am sure would be fine if you brought a support person. is there a reason besides it has been a long time you are going?
for example i had a chipped tooth and had to find a new dentist.....had been awhile i worried about worst thing but never happened.
there will most likely be more then one visit the first is often cleaning and assessing what work needs to be done and plan for a time they can do fillings or anything IF needed .... for most offices give you a detailed estimate of costs and ins coverage etc..... i am not even sure any places use laughing gas anymore.....
