Anxiety in poetry

SparklyOwl January 17th

I would like to share with you a composition I wrote while suffering from years of panic attacks and severe anxiety and the progress I feel I am making in dealing with this situation of mine that is perhaps common to many of you

I wish not to be a victim of my thoughts,
Revealing a world that does not honor me.
Nor a captive of sensations, light of heart,
I discover they are the fruits of the thoughts within me.

At times, alarming, dreadful, enfeebling,
In many facets of life.
I embrace them, these earthquakes of the soul,
They scream, they clamor, but the only audience.

Let's confront them, then, without trepidation,
That which we disown, our profound being.
I express gratitude to anxiety, panic attacks,
A myriad of lives and emotions, on life's stage.

Comprehending others, their emotions understood,
On my skin, an unending tale.
Though not mine, in those intense moments,
Their essence brushed against my boundary.
