Tips for reading when you have ADD/ADHD?

Hi everyone, I have ADHD and I've always had a really hard time reading. Not because I can't read the actual words or anything, I just get distracted easily. I'll "read" a whole page but I'll think about other things at the same time and my mind won't process the information I guess? Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone has had similar problems and how you deal with them. Thank you!

I practice yoga regularly and it has helped me a lot. Breathing techniques and a few yoga poses. I also take a walk to get my dose of happy and calm hormones. I also am affected with ADHD, but i can read easily now. Hope it helps you :)

Hey @GoodVibes8 - I try and make sure my environment is not too noisy, and that I've got a drink/food and i've been to the bathroom. If it's too noisy i'll put earphones in my ears to block out any noise. Depending on what i'm reading for (just pleasure or work) I'll figure out what I want to read in the time period. I also know that I concentrate best in the mid morning/afternoon, so I try and read/study around that time. Then when I'm actually reading, I might read it aloud (If i'm alone) or mime the words. It makes me read slower and process the info more. I then stop after the paragraph and recount what has just been said, and highlight/underline any key points. If its a textbook or something I'll skim it first, then go back and read more slowly. If it's a novel i'm reading for fun, at the end of each chapter i try and think what's happened, and if i can't describe it i'll read it again...

Hope that helps a bit :)
