I have been struggling with alcohol forever, I'm currently in AA but it doesn't seem to be helping.

What do I do?

@KinaxSweetheart

What do you mean by saying it is not helping?

I've been aware of the fact that going to the AA meetings is not the only option, and some people may not feel fully comfortable there. But, if someone is a person with a drinking problem, I think it is better to check twice if it cannot be just an excuse...

The alternatives include going to a therapist or taking part in a group therapy. Some people find pharmacological solutions as helpful, too. There happen to be also some therapies about getting back to controlled drinking in a limited way, but they are still VERY experimental.

Still remembering my AA friends (some of them alive, sober and well for years, some getting back on the right track after a relapse, some already on the other side...) I know that recovery from drinking is a long-lasting process, with many ups and downs on the way.

I believe it's not about not falling, but about standing up again every time you fell.
