Amazing job.
In Greek mythology there is the story of Odysseus who is in a ship. There is an island with the Sirens. The sirens have the most beautiful tempting voices and many ships were destroyed as they couldn’t resist the temptation and would sail towards this dangerous island. Odysseus in his ship commanded his crew to fill his ears with wax and to tie him up and no matter what, not to listen to his orders as they sailed past the Siren’s island.
Well, he heard some of the song and begged to be released and allowed to steer the ship towards the island. His 2 friends ignored him and tied his ropes tighter.
He had a few miserable moments then they were past that dangerous island and the threat of a shipwreck. He eventually got home safely.
He had a plan to get him past the urges and he had friends to help him.
It can be helpful to think about your journey and about getting home (maybe home is a drug free you), having a plan to help get you past those urges and friends or a support person to be with you during the difficult parts of your journey.
