This week's forum post is about judgement and beliefs in Mindfulness. Judgment is defined as the act or instance of judging. The ability to judge, make your own decision and form of an opinion objectively. A belief is defined as to have trust, faith and confidence in someone. We as humans are active thinkers constantly thinking about things everyday. It is like the expression " MY mind is all over the place" is because we are not just thinking of one thing, Our minds may have several things floating around. When someone in our life does wrong by us there are many things we begin to think about "why they did or said something" " Why did they have to hurt me" "what did I do wrong for them to be rude or disrespectful to me". This is known as over thinking because we begin to have things floating around our mind of what happened. Finding comfort through grief using mindfulness

...See more Check In for : December 2nd to December 4th 2024 Last week I had to put our family fur baby of 12 years down because she was having problems walking, her hips were giving out . Some know I own a pit bull named harley davidson, she is our world and it was too much seeing her in pain. Here is the last picture of her waiting at the vet. How do we find comfort through grief: Grief is associated with losing a loved one, relatives, friends and pets. It can also mean losing a job we were doing for years or a long marriage or relationship dating someone. Grief is a mixture of a lot of feelings and emotions. The path of grief is a personal journey we all go through it some hit ourselves more than others, it is how to deal with it, we are all different in handling things. There are times when grief can come back after experiencing it first time around. The following is how to handle grief when we are experiencing it . Common ways grief may show up: Emotional rollercoaster: The range of emotions we face are anger, sadness, guilt, confusion and even relief. No one is the same how we handle these emotions may be different person to person. Physical symptoms: Grief can also effect our physical well being. It can bring fatigue making us want to sleep our worries away. It can also hinder our daily activities to where we do not want to do anything, headaches and stomach aches. Social withdrawal: Grief can make us not want to be around anyone during social functions. It also can make it hard to talk about to others, so we distance ourselves. What are some ways you handle grief? What emotions are you feeling when dealing with it? ...See more Practising patience as we grow older As we grow older we are making many compromises and accommodate others and our patience begins to grow thin. Our tolerance levels for things like discipline, courage and emotional energy. When we get older we try to stay away from drama and gossip. These are to things we begin to lose our patience over. By listening to others we lose their issues which will lead to conflict. People who can keep their time or break promises to you are not your effort. We look to find those who have time for us without broken promises. We want others to be there for us as we would be there for them. How are some things you are finding that are playing your patience? How do you deal with low patience for something or someone? The power of hope - goal setting As we go into a new year some set resolutions or goals to improve or better ourselves. Setting goals differ among us, some goals others may not see it working for them which is fine not every goal is the same for everyone or how we do the goal setting is the same. We all hope for things and hope is more than wishful thinking. There are 3 essential elements to goal setting determination, a specific element and concrete steps to maintaining the goal. How do you work on achieving a goal? How do you feel once a goal is reached to your satisfaction? ways to improve our mental health and live a better life Self care is often misunderstood. Self care when thought out can improve our mental health. Mental health includes our psychological and social well being. ...See more Last week in the discussion We spoke about the fear of aging> I would like to add a little more to it of the 5 fears of aging and what they mean. As we all begin to get older we are faced with some concerns for ourselves. I know personally I am going to be 60 soon and wonder do I have my life where it needs to be and to what means can I make to make sure my life ones are taken care of. There are 5 main fear to people as we get old: 1. Losing independence - We fear as we grow older the need to ask family or friends for help because we can not do things like we did when we were younger. We may ask for help around the inside and outside of our homes because we can not bend or carry things we need to do in keeping our homes looking good. We may ask in helping to take care of ourselves if we are living with our children because we grew to old to live alone. We may have a hard time cooking or just plain taking care of our hygiene. 2. Deteriorating health - As we begin to age we may be faced with medical bot mental and physical health problems. We may have a stroke enabling us not to function with daily activities. We may have a heart attack , cancer or alzeheimer disease. 3. Loneliness - When we live alone because our children grew old enough to leave home or lost a spouse to passing away we experience being sad to be alone. Our children may live in another star or country and seeing them like we did can cause loneliness. 4. Financial insecurities - As we age we begin to worry if we will have money to survive as the economy is changing, forcing more demand on rent, gas for vehicles, food increases and medication increases. We begin to wonder if our Social Security will be enough to make ends meet or will we have to take on part time jobs just to survive. 5. Death - not a topic I want to think about but it is a way of life and we need to make sure our finances are in place if we should leave it to others to take care of. Many begin to feel if there will be pain and suffering experienced when we do pass. How can we deal with these fears mentioned above, we can keep a healthy intake of our lives. We can eat and exercise more to prolong a healthy life style. We begin to take hold of our emotional help speaking to family or friends maybe even seeing a therapist to help us cope with it. We can get involved in community activities to keep our time going and not be lonely. Take courses on aging so we can be better prepared for the process. Negative thought can interfere with out daily life, interfere with our sleeping and have a toll on us physically and mentally. ...See more Hiya everyone, I hope this new month brings each one of us lots of peace and joy!💖 Okie I'll try not to blabber too much and come straight to the point! xD Soooo, we know that when we sign up on 7 cups, we are assigned an auto-generated username because anonymity first hehe. And of course, we can change our username from our settings page, for upto first 2 weeks and then after filling a form and providing a valid reason. Which is how there's so many people here who have come up with almost random looking words from the English language, that when put together bring us a spectacular "username", which is often synonymous to their personality, and of course, a major part of our identity here at 7 cups. Purely an observation, and of course, it could've been deeply impacted by the "roles" each account plays here, "listeners" on here to listen to people, support and be an encouraging presence reigniting hope for those that need it, have a more "upbeat" sorta username, usually. (Usually being the keyword) On the other hand, I notice some "member" account usernames that aren't as "upbeat" sounding, which also makes complete sense because on our member account, we are likely more vulnerable and embracing of the not-so-happy-and-okay-us too. (Again, usually being the keyword, and a personal observation entirely) Indeed, there's extremes but then there's also a broad spectrum, and we are all spread out on it embracing our unique-ness and authenticity, describing it as how we see it and are comfortable with. 🌞 I love coming across different usernames that attempt to personate the person behind the screen in one or more ways, whatever way it speaks to *them*. To each their own, always! However, yes it makes me wonder how our usernames shape up our identity here, how we see ourselves and also for others and how we'd like them to see us too. A username speaks a lot about the person, I feel, the more-thought-out ones, specially. Ones with some context and with a backstory! (I tried xD but fortunately, I am me and I'll complete the entire story even after saying "long story short"~ ooh and sometimes even with sub-plots and individual character-development arcs 🤣) Alrighty, now some questions to get your brain-juices flowing- 🌞 What does your username mean? Is there a backstory, you'd like to share? 🌞 If you had an alternate username or could change your username to something else more inclined towards the *current you*, what would you keep it as? Why? 🌞 What's the most captivating username you've come across here? (Yes please, you can tag them by putting an "@" sign before their name) What do you like about it? 🌞 A Gift for youuu: Tag 3 of your peers here and share an alternate username for them, that you feel fits them most. ...See more Hello! It is a bit scary for me to be vulnerable and share my recent experience but I hope that some good and support comes out of this. Four months ago my first love and partner of three years cheated on me and abandoned me; never taking accountability for what they did, never gave an explanation, and never answered any of my questions, they just disappeared. They night they cheated they sent me a message (while at the girl's house) saying that they "love me deeply and truly" and that we would "always" be together. The next day they ignored me the entire day while they were at the beach with the girl, they deleted the posts of us together on social media, and was active but ignoring me. He left our three year relationship for someone that he only knew for three days... It felt like my world fell apart. He is now dating the girl he most recently cheated on me with and is pretending to be super loyal and in love with her. They both are posting and she thinks she is so lucky to have found him and he is playing victim to what happened. It is unbearable seeing them together and seeing him happy after he destroyed my happiness. I blocked him on everything but I cannot help but occasionally stalk on fake accounts. I found out after we broke up that this more recent betrayal was not the first but the third! He had cheated two times prior with two different girls. I was devastated. It felt like my world completely went upside down. It felt like our entire three year relationship was fake, that our passionate love was fake. I was with him since I was 17, we went to prom together, and we were pretty serious. He was my first kiss even. We planned on getting married, having kids one day (even naming them), and he was even looking for rings were how naively serious we were. The worst part of it all is that he is gaslighting me, denying when we dated, lied about why we broke up, denying that he cheated, denying that he kissed me, saying we were "on and off," saying I am "crazy," making wild excuses to his new gf about what happened, and having the audacity to tell everyone that I cheated on him! It has been incredibly hard for me to deal with being gaslighted by the only person I have ever loved and still have love for. I have not talked to him since the day he cheated and abandoned me. The last thing he ever told me was that he was "sorry he wasn't good enough." Also, my self-esteem has taken a major hit after his infidelity. I have always been a confident person but after what happened I found that I do not even like myself. I doubt myself, doubt my appearance, and more. I even find myself trying to bring myself down to be more like the uneducated girl he is with now. I wear more makeup now and even want to change my hair color to that of the girl he is with now. If anyone has any advice for self-esteem rebuilding after infidelity I would be grateful and happy to hear it. This has been so devastating for me. I've lost an unhealthy amount of weight, cry everyday still, have nightmares, imagine them together, get nauseous thinking about what happened, uncontrollably check both of their socials, have a hard time focusing, have a hard time falling asleep (imaging them together), and cannot stop thinking of him all the time. I feel like I will be alone for the rest of my life. I recognize that I am dealing with post infidelity stress disorder (PISD) but honestly just need support from others who have, unfortunately, been through a similar experience. I do not understand why it has been so easy for him to "unlove me" and forget our three years together in four months and be with someone new. The thought of being with someone new makes me uncomfortable to this day. I've been in a dark place and making friends might help. If you read this far I appreciate it! Take care please everyone.
